Weekly Blog Zuckerl 19/06

Ist euch auch so heiß wie mir? Bei uns hat es heute 37°C – gefühlte 100°C. Am Vormittag konnte ich mich ja noch in meinem herrliche kühlen Büro verkriechen, aber am Nachmittag wollen die Kinder bei ihren Aktivitäten begleitet werden (und das beinhält sicher irgendetwas im Freien *puh*). Da gibt es nur 1 Devise – einschmieren so gut es geht. Vor allem den kleinen N, der mit seinen roten Haaren und blasser Haut fast keine eigene Abwehr hat.

Is it as hot as over here at your place? We have about 37°C – which feels like 100°C.
I was able to hole up in my heavenly cool office in the morning. But the kids want to be a accompanied to their afternoon acitivities, which involves stepping out of the house *eek* ;)
My most important motto these days – using sun lotion as much as possible. Especially the little N, with his red hair and pale skin, is very vulnerable.

Mit ganz viel crackle paint…

With lots of crackle paint…

Wie war euer Wochenende? Bei uns war es so richtig heiß! Wir sind deswegen mit dem Fahrrad zum alten Rhein gefahren (ca. 10 Minuten) und haben uns in das eiskalte sehr erfrischende Nass gewagt. Die zwei Ns hatten eine riesen Gaudi :)

How did you spent your weekend? It was very hot over here! Therefore we took the bikes to go to the old Rhine (approx. 10 minutes) and enjoyed the freezing cold very refreshing water :) The two Ns loved it!

Ausserdem ist die oben abgebildete große Zündholzschachtel auf meinem Basteltisch entstanden. Inspiriert wurde ich durch dieses Video von Wilna Furstenberg. Ihre Techniken regen mich immer sehr zum Nachmachen und selbst interpretieren an.

Meine Variante ging ganz schnell und ohne viel Herumgepatze :) In der crackle paint von Tim Holtz ist ja schon ein Pinsel integriert, was die Sache sehr erleichtert hat. Mit diesem Pinsel habe ich die Farbe sehr dick auf das Motivpapier aufgetragen und dann das ausgestanzte “elegant doily” von Whiff of Joy hineingedrückt. Nach dem Trocknen über Nacht ergab sich diese traumhafte Struktur und Dimension.

I also created the above large matchbox this weekend. I got inspired by THIS video from Wilna Furstenberg. She shares the most inspiring techniques and ideas in her video, which always encourage me to get creative myself :)

My version was very quick and clean ;) It helped a lot that the paint brush is already integrated in Tim Holtz’s crackle paints. I spread lots ( yes, I mean loooots!) of paint on the design paper and pressed the die cut elegant doily from Whiff of Joy right inside the wet paint. After letting it dry for 1 night, the result was this heavenly structure and dimension.

Jaja, es ist viel los bei uns. Der Sommer hat sich doch endlich auch zu uns vorgewagt (nächste Woche soll es über 30°C kriegen *uff*) – Timmy, unser Hund, stand dem ganzen noch sehr skeptisch gegenüber und beobachtete die Entwicklung lieber von Drinnen.

There is always a lot going on at our place. Two fun-loving boys, a lively dog, house, job and creative mess – can you imagine what I am talking about :-/
At least the sun came out last week. Timmy, our dog didn’t trust the good weather at first and kept track of the development from inside.

Bei Whiff of Joy gab es ein verspätetes Weihnachtsessen…hehe (aber bei den bisherigen Temperaturen spielte die Verzögerung keine Rolle). Das Warten hatte sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Theater und Dinner mit Mord, Eifersucht und jeder Menge Verrückter in einer alten Nervenheilanstalt – einfach genial!

Whiff of Joy invited us to a company dinner – what a terrific event – dinner and theater in an old asylum – murder, jealousy und lots of crazy people running around – brilliant!!

Ich fand endlich die Zeit mein erstes Sn@p Buch zu starten. Unser Wochenendausflug ins Legoland Deutschland fand hier einen stilechten Platz. Und ich bin von dieser neuen Methode total begeistert – das Buch kommt mit in den Sommer-Urlaub :)

I found the time to start my first Sn@p album and documented our weekend trip to Legoland Germany. Wow, this new method is super quick, beautiful and delivers clean results. Love it and will take my album with me to our summer vacation – sn@pping on the go :)

Auch das leibliche Wohl kam nicht zu kurz. Wir entdeckten ein Restaurant in Hohenems, liebevoll dekoriert mit toller Küche – das Landgasthaus Schiffle - sehr zu empfehlen.

We discovered a lovely restaurant in Hohenems last weekend – delicious food and affectionately decorated - Landgasthaus Schiffle – recommendable.

Dann habe ich auch noch bei Ebay zugeschlagen. Total inspiriert von diesem Foto bei Luziapimpinella ging ich auf die Suche und wurde zu einem Spotpreis auch noch fündig *yihaaa*! Mein neues Baby :)

I made a super deal at ebay as well. After I saw THIS photo at Luziapimpinella’s, I got inspired and found myself a vintage (and still working) alarm clock for a real bargain *yihaaa*! Love my new baby :)

Nach dem wöchentlichen Fussball Training am Mittwoch, kam am Donnerstag der Schreck meines Lebens. Das Dach unserer Terrasse war leck und wurde deswegen erneuert (also fertig sind die noch nicht, es wurde erstmal das Holz heruntergerissen) und was da zum Vorschein kam ist nichts für schwache Nerven!!! Ja, ihr seht richtig, das riesen Ding vor meinen Füßen ist ein fussball-großes Wespennest – das wäre ein perfektes EEK of the Week gewesen :)
Zum Glück waren die Wespen gerade nicht zu Hause, also haben wir ihr Haus geklaut ;)

Wednesday is soccer training for Big N. – but we also found a soccer ball-shaped “thing” in friday. During renovation of the roof of our terrace, we discovered the “home” of wasps – OMG!! this was huuuge. Luckily they were not at home and we could remove it savely. This would have been a perfect “Eek of the week” :-/

Gestern wurde ich dann von einer Freundin mit diesem süßen Froschkönig beschenkt und verbrachte einen gemütlichen Mädel-Abend.

I received a super cute gift from a dear friend yesterday and spent a terrific evening with the girls.

Heute lachte uns zu Mittag so richtig die Sonne, also nicht wie auf die Drahtesel geschwungen und ab zu der Buschen schenke unseres Vertrauens, direkt am alten Rhein. Dort traf ich auch “Hugo”, die Liebe des letzten Sommers… :-()
Abgekühlt haben wir uns dann mit einem Sprung in den alten Rhein – ist der Blick nicht fantastisch?

The sun was shining brightly today. Therefore we took the bikes and drove to the local wine tavern to enjoy summer :) I also met “Hugo” there – my love from last summer…haha This is a cocktail consisting of prosecco, lemon balm, sirup from elderflowers and mineral water – delicious!
Afterwards we cooled off by jumping into the Old Rhine – isn’t this view remarkable?

CCP Juni 2013 – Mein Bastelchaos

Heute ist der 13. Juni – das heißt es ist Zeit für die Creative Craft Photo Challenge. Diesmal mit dem Thema “Mein Bastelchaos”. Also da habe ich wirklich Auswahl..haha
Wer noch nicht weiss worum es geht, und gerne mitmachen möchte, kann sich HIER alle Infos zu CCP holen. Noch mehr Chaos gibt es bei Sonja zu sehen :)

Today is June 13th, which means it is time for another Creative Craft Photo Challenge. This month’s theme is “My craft chaos”. Well, I have enough choises for this one…haha

Chaos herrscht bei mir fast immer. Mit 2 kleinen Kindern, Beruf und Haushalt, verwende ich jede freie Minute, um kreativ zu sein. Das da oft nicht die Zeit bleibt Aufzuräumen ist ganz klar :)
Spätestens, wenn nicht einmal mehr Platz bleibt, um einen Kartenrohling hinzulegen, muss ich dann doch mal klar Schiff machen :)
Ich freue mich auf euer “Chaos” :)

I have to admit that there is chaos on my work table most of the time. With 2 little kids, work and household, cleaning up my craft space often gets neglected. At the latest, if there is not even room to lay down a card on my craft table, I need to re-think this attitude ;)
